After a quite stunning career, Al-Sadd midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, has confirmed his retirement will come at the end of the current season.
At 39 years old, the former Barcelona star will bring to an end a playing career that has been a cornerstone of the modern era of football.
“This is my last season as a player, but I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me as a coach,” Xavi explained in an article for the Generation Amazing charity.
“My philosophy as a coach reflects the style we developed for many years under the influence of Johan Cruyff and La Masia.
“I love seeing teams take the initiative on the pitch,” he stated.
